Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Last updated: 29 August 2026

These terms govern your use of Edinburgh Tourism Guide at www.edinburghtourism.org. Using the site means you accept them. If you do not, please stop using it.

What this site is, in legal terms

Edinburgh Tourism Guide publishes editorial travel information about Edinburgh. It is an independent publication. It is not a travel agency, not a tour operator, not a booking platform and not an agent for any business mentioned on it. We take no reservations, hold no deposits, issue no tickets and enter into no contract with you for any travel service. Any transaction you make happens directly between you and the operator concerned, on their terms, and we are not a party to it.

Accuracy, and the limits of it

The guides are researched carefully and checked against official sources, but travel information dates. Admission prices rise, opening hours change with the season, tram and bus fares are revised, festival programmes are published annually, venues close and restaurants change hands. Edinburgh in particular runs on seasonal schedules that differ substantially between summer and winter.

So the content is provided on an “as is” basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, as to accuracy, completeness, currency or fitness for a particular purpose. Prices, times, routes and availability are planning estimates. Before you spend money or commit to a plan, confirm the detail with the attraction, transport provider or festival organiser directly. We do not accept liability for a trip that went differently because a figure on this site had moved.

Recommendations are opinions

Where a guide says a tour is worth the money, a neighbourhood suits a first visit, or a day trip is too long to be enjoyable, that is editorial opinion offered in good faith. It is not professional advice and it is not a guarantee of your experience. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, medical, insurance or immigration advice. For visas, entry requirements, travel insurance, health precautions or anything else with legal or medical consequence, consult the relevant government body or a qualified professional.

Third parties we link to

The guides link to external websites — Historic Environment Scotland, Lothian Buses, ScotRail, the festival organisations, individual venues — so that you can verify current details at source. We do not control those sites, do not endorse everything on them, and are not responsible for their content, their availability or their handling of your data. Following an external link takes you outside these terms.

Advertising

The site is funded by display advertising served by third-party ad networks. Advertisements are selected and placed by the network, not by us, and their appearance next to a guide is not an endorsement of the advertiser or of anything they sell. Your dealings with an advertiser are between you and them. Any content that is paid for or commercially arranged will be labelled as such on the page where it appears.

Copyright

The text, layout, structure and original graphics on this site are our copyright. You are welcome to read, print and share pages for your own trip planning, and to quote a short passage with clear attribution and a link back to the page it came from. You may not republish guides in whole or in substantial part, scrape the site systematically, or reuse the content to train or populate another service, without written permission.

Photographs are used under the licences of their respective sources and remain the property of their photographers. If you believe something here infringes your copyright, tell us through the contact page, identifying the material and the page it appears on, and we will investigate and remove it if the claim is sound.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to interfere with the site’s operation, gain unauthorised access to any part of it, introduce malicious code, or place automated load on it that degrades service for other readers. Do not use the contact form to send unsolicited commercial messages, link-building requests or abuse.

Availability

We aim to keep the site online but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Guides may be revised, moved or withdrawn without notice as information changes. We are not liable for loss arising from the site being unavailable or from a page you relied on having changed.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content, including lost bookings, wasted travel costs and missed events. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and disputes arising from them are subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The current version is always the one on this page, and the date at the top tells you when it was last changed. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept it.
